Camp Mechuwana is in a deeply forested area. Everything (foliage) is really green and pretty. We have 2 separate lodges, one for girls and one for boys. Lodges have bedrooms with bunk beds and each has 1 bathroom. There is a really huge lake.
Overnight in Boston
We arrived in Boston at about 6pm and drove 1/2 hour to United UMC. Had a traditional mission trip meal of pizza for dinner. Fellowship and devotion followed dinner.
Finally, on our way!
Saturday Departure
The group gathered at Denver International Airport (DIA) Saturday morning at 9:30. As expected, quite a few people arrived early, some as early at 8:30. It wasn’t long before a Southwest Airlines employee suggested everyone get into the “Check In” line, because he wanted to make sure they wouldn’t be late checking in for their flight. The line was pretty long and was moving very slowly. When we explained that our trip coordinator had not yet arrived, he assured us that she would be allowed to move to that spot in the line where are folks were. Well when another few a our group arrived a short while later, they were not allowed to “cut in” the line, but were required to move to the end of the line. And when our trip coordinator (Ms. Judy) arrived with a group of 3 or 4 others, only she was allowed to jump to the front; the others were required to go to the back of the line. Alas, it all worked out well. Ms. Judy handed out plane tickets to the kids and sponsors, just prior to being checked in. At about 10:30, all 22 passengers, 18 kids and 4 sponsors, and several bags of luggage, had been checked in for the flight to Boston. Last minute paperwork was completed and most parents said their goodbyes. Photos were snapped and stories were swapped as this group was about to begin their journey. Lifelong memories were created this day at the Southwest Terminal of DIA.
